Kennel Experience with German Shepherds

German Shepherds are the most excellent family pets!

Perhaps that statement sounds a little biased. That's probably because I've had two German Shepherds as family pets and in both cases, these dogs were the most lovable, happy and loyal pets I've ever known. You might want to use doggie daycare. They get along wonderfully at the dog boarding kennel. Mine didn't come with papers, but both came from families whose dogs had just had puppies. These youngsters were well cared for by their masters and both puppies reflected that loving care in their behavior throughout their long and healthy lifetimes.

In both cases, the puppies picked us rather than the other way around. When I sat down among the first batch of rambunctious puppies at the boarding kennel to observe them, they all ran around energetically, chasing their siblings and their own tails. All except for one, who kind of hung back from the crowd, and me, for a short while. She was sitting under the deck, watching. She eventually came straight over to me and started nuzzling and licking me. So cute. She won my heart immediately. She was named Glue, a.k.a. The Gluebird of Happiness, due to her disposition and her habit of sticking to you like glue.  An odd name for a dog, but somehow it fit her perfectly.

Our second German Shepherd chose my daughter in much the same way. This leads me to believe that perhaps it's better to let the dog pick you. Both these dogs were extremely loyal, protective and loving, and the sentiment was reciprocal.

This is not to say they don't have a little mischief and thievery in their happy little hearts. German Shepherds generally have sunny dispositions and personality to burn. Glue was always on the lookout for an unprotected cube of butter or a roast ready for the oven, sitting on the kitchen counter. She got a couple such tasties in her lifetime, although she'd never do it in front of anyone. She also rousted a would-be burglar, keeping a piece of his pants as a souvenir as he escaped over the back fence. She eyeballs other dogs' treats at the boarding kennel.

Our second shepherd, Glue II (wouldn't you know it), had her own funny brand of mischief. She had a best friend in her neighbor, Joe, a Boxer mix. They soon devised a game where they would sneak across the road while the other wasn't at home and steal each other's toys and treasures. Eventually, the miffed dog would go steal back his or her toys and hide them. Glue II, unlike the original Glue, never played the chasing sticks game, nor enjoyed Frisbee. She, instead of begging a normal game, became a rock collector and chaser. She'd run like the wind after a rock tossed into the wild blue yonder. She also saved about 30-40 "special" rocks in specific locations on the porch, much as kids store toys. Joe never caught on to the fact that these were Glue II's real treasures.

From personal experience, I'd say German Shepherds are an excellent choice for a family pet, especially if you need to use the boarding kennel during your vacations. If possible, get them from a private family.  We sure had good luck this way!

Mount Pleasant Cut Dog Collars

Over the years I have seen the many things that people do to their Mount Pleasant, SC pets that make me cringe. One of those things is dressing doggies up in outfits. Dogs are not supposed to wear clothes. They have fur and they really don’t like to wear outfits. People should be able to tell this by looking at them. Please, instead of dressing your pup up in outfits consider cute dog collars instead.

There are so many cute dog collars available on the market that you could have your canine companion wearing a different one every day of the year. You can find these great little items in holiday themes and cute dog collars make great presents for your pooch. He will enjoy these much better than that hot red and green sweater sweltering over his fur.

The holiday designs are colorful and they capture just about every Mt Pleasant holiday event throughout the year. The Christmas season can be represented by cute dog collars that boast red, white and green details. Some even have jingle bells that add charm and that remind us of reindeer. This option is much better than the reindeer dog outfit some choose to subject their pets to.

Cute dog collars created with Halloween designs are a great alternative to suiting your puppy up in a costume. You can make your pet a festive contributor to the holiday spirit, if you will excuse the pun, just by adding this little detail. Your puppy will thank you for the simple collar with happy doggie kisses.

Of course, not every day is a holiday but there are still a plethora of cute dog collars that you can use for everyday wear. One of my personal favorites is the feather canine collars. These soft accessories are adorable and they come in every color imaginable. You could almost match your pet to your outfit with the many color options available.

Another attractive design in doggie neckwear includes rhinestone detailing that makes the collar sparkle and delight. Or they may pick the colors of Clemson University or the University of South Carolina. I love that the pups look so dressed up in these cute dog collars. Most of them are not very expensive, either. You can get a rich look for a little cash.

Feathers and rhinestones may be a little overstated for some of us. Right now there are cute dog collars that have designs on them ranging from hearts to flip-flops. There is a collar out there that you and your Mount Pleasant puppy will both love.

Dog Boarding Beds

Dogs are treated very well all over the world, but America may be the winner in terms of treating dogs like part of the family. Both dogs and cats are spoiled and pampered by their owners, but the phrase “man’s best friend” really only applies to the dogs. The way dogs are cared for and treated has evolved over the years as people’s priorities and earning potentials have shifted, making dogs an integral part of the family, sometimes, even being held at the same level as children.

Grooming supplies, clothes and dog beds have come into play and people buy with a vengeance. Humans realize how important a good night’s sleep is to overall productivity and success day after day and some feel this must be the case for canines as well. While some dogs are fortunate enough to share the bed of their master, others sleep in dog beds.

Someone looking to buy dog beds does not have to do a lot of work to find a large variety. Look at examples at your nearby Mt Pleasant dog daycare facility, like MPAH. They can be purchased online, in pet shops, at garage sales, from a convention or even from a dog breeder. It’s important to read reviews of dog beds online to see how durable they are. I know my dog loves to try to eat her bed, making flimsy bed garbage in less than a week. If you are purchasing from a pet store, try to ask the owner or employees what they would recommend and what they have found other customers to have luck with.

Some websites have tools that help you find the right dog bed for your dog. The criteria are based on the size of the dog, the shape, the bed filling and/or the bed cover. This means that dog beds can be customized specifically for your dog. The bed would then be shipped to your residence.

Pricing for dog beds can range ten dollars to hundreds of dollars. This has to do with the construction and filling in the beds. This material can range from polyester, memory foam and down. Some dog breeds prefer to sleep on a firmer bed while others like to be enveloped in a softer bed.

Other customizable characteristics of dog beds include the pattern and color of the covering. People can find styles of beds that match their bedrooms, living rooms, lawn furniture, bathrooms or any other room a dog may sleep in.

Dog Biting Problem - Can You Teach an Old Dog New Tricks?

If your dog is biting, even if it seems only playful at the time, you  may have future issues. It's not just that it can be annoying - it can be downright dangerous at times. All of this comes from not teaching a puppy to behave in the right way around people. If this is how things were when your dog was a puppy, offering training once your dog reaches adulthood can be quite a problem - you do recall how you can't teach an old dog new tricks. This can especially be true of a dog that grows up to be large and strong. So what do you do? Is there a way to get a dog biting problem under control? There certainly is.

In canine society, biting is something they do, not just to express annoyance, but also to express solidarity or camaraderie. Often, it is also meant to show dominance. It's just a natural thing for them to do. The best time to get this out of your dog system is of course when it's a pup that's less than six months old. Dogs are the most pliable around this age, and they learn the quickest. It's natural for a dog to try to assert dominance as far as it can. When you have a young puppy and it tries to do this, it can seem like harmless innocent playfulness if you aren't really clued in to what it's trying to do - asserting dominance. You need to take a clue right then and put an end to this behavior.

How do you deal with this then? You bring on bite training for your puppy. About the best time to do this is when it's still nursing and when it's with the rest of the litter. You first get your puppy of chew toy so that it uses that to bite on instead of a fellow puppy or a human hand. When the puppy comes to bite you, right away, you're supposed to hand it the chew toy to bite on instead. There should be no member of the family who tries to let the puppy have its way with the biting. Of course, sending your puppy to obedience school can be a great way to get biting out of its system. Make sure that you never play games with your puppy where it would be natural for it to bite -games such as a wrestling should be out of the question. It will only make your puppy more aggressive.

Pet Adoption in Mt Pleasant SC

Feel Good - Use Animal Adoption in Mt Pleasant, South Carolina

For those who think about the quantity of dogs and cats that are put to sleep yearly for the reason that no one wants them, it almost makes your heart break. With all the current animals for adoption nowadays, most people still have no idea of about how precisely to get in touch with these lovable pets in need. Quite a few still head to commercial breeders when a quick stop by the Humane Society or some other sort of creature recovery agency could possibly preserve the life of a dog or cat, and offer them a cherished companion.

The 1st critter for adoption that I took in to my home was a new puppy I called Bowser. Back then, our school was conducting a mission to help with the world wildlife fund. They had adopt a pet programs to help safeguard endangered species. Even though these were not literally animals for adoption, they were creatures you could help safeguard simply by giving funds and increasing popular support for safe guarding their habitats. It got me contemplating wildlife near my location, and I asked my parents if I could get a pooch through the Humane Society. She was a tiny bit troubled concerning getting dogs through adoption, never being previously a pet owner herself, however when I agreed to take care of the doggy, she relented.

It turned out that there were an assortment of pets for adoption accessible in our town. I'm sure my momma appeared to be picturing a room overflowing with pathetic, mangy, hostile dogs, but the dogs and cats inside the animal rescue refuge were essentially fairly friendly by and large. There were numerous distinct pet dogs there, and it required some time to choose the one that I wanted. Finally, I fell in love with a spotted puppy dog who looked like he had some Dalmatian in him. I took him home that very day

After that, all of my house animals have been animals for adoption. All things considered, I can't justify purchasing a family pet when there are so many creatures that are deserted on a yearly basis. Many individuals are too slack to shell out to neuter or spay their dogs and cats, while some adopt a dog simply to abandon it a year or two later when it's no longer a puppy. As a result, a great number of unwanted dogs are euthanized as opposed to getting to live full lives within a nurturing home. It is nice to be able to carry out my tiny part to counter this specific trend.

Since that 1st new puppy of mine a long time ago, I've talked with many different pet owners. Every single one of which that I have talked with that had obtained their particular furry friend from a refuge or adoption agency said that the dog or cat they got was the best they'd ever owned. One would presume otherwise and conclude that the severe surroundings the deserted pet had lived in would have made it aggressive towards the world and folks in most cases. Based on all these folks I have talked with, the opposite is the case.
